RORC Easter Challenge

Course: English Channel, Solent
Category: Inshore
Entry Deadline: Monday 30th November -0001
Summary:
Easter is officially the start of the sailing season on the Solent and the RORC Easter Challenge is the first big event of the year, and there are few feelings to beat the thrill of heading back out onto the racecourse and blowing away the winter cobwebs in the bracing breezes of the Solent.
The long winter layoff ensures that the three-day event, held over the Easter weekend attracts more than its fair share of quality competitors, and many use this as a training competition for the IRC Nationals held later in the summer. The event provides a useful signpost as to which yachts will be setting the pace throughout the season and if you want to be competitive early doors, then participation in this event often ensures that your crew will be operating as a well-oiled machine once the season is in full swing.
The event is based in the friendly and familiar setting of Cowes and RORC have spared no expense to ensure that the interest is not solely based on the water. Every year, a selection of experts and racing gurus are on hand to provide tutorials and tips once hostilities on the water come to a close. Last year the expert panel of coaches was headed up by racing legend Jim Saltonstall and there were also specialist tutorials on rig and sail trim. This is an event not to be missed by those who want to stay one step ahead of the chasing pack.
