Summary:

Now in its eighth year, the Profile Cup is a charity event which members of the hospitality and travel industry are invited to take part in. Organised by Britannia Corporate Events and Profile Global Hospitality Recruitment this weekend of fun and light hearted racing aims to raise money for the Springboard Charity, an organisation which aims to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential. This is a great opportunity for a little bit of team bonding and also provides a friendly atmosphere for a spot of industry networking. Racing takes place in the Solent and the various crews are matched up on identical Beneteau 40, a very modern and thoroughly commodious racing machine which is not only a pleasure to sail, but is also easily managed by beginners. On day one, each vessel is allocated a skipper and departs from port Hamble in order to undertake a little bit of practice prior to the big race. With skills suitably honed, crews circle around the start line intent on gaining an advantage prior to a clash which generally separates the beginners from the winners.

After an afternoon of lively racing, yachts and crew retire to Cowes Yacht Haven and participants are able to digest the day’s action over a few drinks and a delicious dinner served at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. Day two features more of the same, but this time things are that much more serious, as there are scores to be settled and grudges to be resolved from the previous days racing. The whole affair is nicely wrapped up with the final prize giving back at Port Hamble and guests can reflect back on a lively break from the norm during which fun has been had, friendships formed and bridges often built. A great way to bond with workmates and peers alike.
